mama notes

Mother's Day was wonderful. The last few years have been bittersweet, but it has been worth the wait. Madeline got baptized and we had brunch at Mom and Dad's. The baptism went off without a hitch-whew! We chose the 8:30 service at First Community for a few reasons. We are members (though we totally slack in the actual going to church part), and when we do attend we like the small-town feel of the early service. It also enables us to beat the later crowd at Marshal's for breakfast! I like First Community because we don't get the pressure to drink the Kool-Aid like I have experienced at other churches. How refreshing to just go, listen and leave. It is such as active, service-oriented church that it will be a good experience for Maddie as she gets older. It also worked out that the minister who married us did the baptism-very cool, and reinforces the small town aspect.

No pictures of Madeline in her pink velvet dress and satin spankies. Our camera was in the car-d'oh! Hopefully, Gramma or Mimi can hook us up...

    Jess,
    It's so much fun to watch Maddie grow and change. She looks so much like I remember you looking when you were a baby! We are enjoying the grandparent gig more every day. Ellie is very jealous of Maddie's head of hair, but enjoyed her baptism and first Mother's Day as well. Glad you are getting to the beach. Know that we have room for a visit if you ever get to VA.
